1556 Restaurant

The 1556 Restaurant & Bar, at the MouraSuites Hotel, is named after the date of inauguration of the "Fonte das Portas de Moura".

Right in front of the hotel, the graceful fountain, a National Monument that throughout the has remained unchanged over the centuries.

Formerly supplied by the Água da Prata Aqueduct, it was commissioned by the Henrique, Archbishop of Evora and later King of Portugal.

As it should be in Alentejo, in our restaurant each meal is much more than a way of feeding, it is a way of living together, of receiving and celebrating life.

We offer our guests and all those who visit us Portuguese and Alentejo cuisine, rich in flavours and tastes, strongly connected to the products of the land , highlighting bread, olive oil and aromatic herbs.

The bread, essential as an accompaniment to snacks or an important ingredient in dishes such as the famous migas.

Alentejo olive oil, amongst the best in the world, with the capacity to elevate any dish from good to excellent.

Coriander, mint, thyme, bay leaf, oregano, aromatic herbs that transform a dish, flavour the dish and elevate its flavour.

It is this unique and diversified Alentejo, with influences from the mountains to the plains, from the coast to the interior that the 1156 Restaurant brings to the table.
